Description

Hi,
My name is Mike & my hobby and passion is vintage shaving items. I love the history, quality, & craftsmanship of the razors that were made back then.
There was a time when straight razors were commonly used in barber shops & at home. Almost every man had a straight razor, strop, & honing stone. These were prized possessions, and they were well cared for. These vintage pieces were very well made with quality steel & craftsmanship. They also delivered excellent shaves! I think the old saying "they dont make them like they used to" definitely applies to razors.
These straights have an interesting & great history. Shaving with a piece that is 100-200 years old is awesome in my opinion. I enjoy preserving and seeing them go back into circulation.
When I acquire a vintage piece, it will go through a process before being listed on my auctions. Everything is done carefully by hand. Depending on the condition of the razor I acquired, it will have either a light, or full reconditioning. Each razor if needed will have received the treatments listed below:
1) Removal of active rust, dirt, grime, oxidation, & corrosion.
2) Pins tightened or hardware replaced on loose scales
3) Polishing the blade & scales
4) Honing, stropping, testing the edge, sanitizing the razor, re-strop, application of mineral oil for rust protection
Some of the straight razors are well over 100 years old, so they might have a few cosmetic age spots, blemishes, or pitting marks that remained after restoration. My objective is to recondition the blade without compromising the integrity of the steel.
