Three Early Made in the Soviet Union Composition & Cloth Russian Dolls 1922-on

These three composition and cloth dolls with arms and legs over wire armature were manufactured in the Soviet Union circa 1922-1940's.
All dolls bear the "Made in Soviet Union labels on their clothing.
Their faces are gently modeled from composition and simply painted, while their bodies appear to be stuffed cloth over wire armature, so they can somewhat pose.
They are authentically costumed in provincial Russian costuming and all wear their traditional knitted "lapti" sandals.  The dolls' composition faces remain fairly sturdy, though they sustain overall soil and wear to their clothing, and discoloration and fading to the various fabrics of their costuming.  The head of the doll dressed in the blue skirt has detached from her torso and will require repair.  They all smell in varying degrees of mildew, more notably the doll in the black and white check skirt.  Though they may require restoration and cleaning, these
dolls remain charming and remarkable handcrafted character dolls reflecting early Russian culture.  Small treasures!
