The violin has been extremely played on, as you can see indicating that previous owners clearly thought very highly of the violin and enjoyed playing it. With all the nicks and scratches from years of being played by countless players to prove it!
Dark red varnish, typical of the French school covers highly tiger flamed maple two piece back with matching rib neck and scroll. The top is made of straight, strong wide grain spruce a the flanks and medium
grain towards the center.
The violin possesses a lovely singing tone with good power and projection that make the violin additive to play and hard to lay down!
The violin oozes with charm and personality. From the attractive shaped F-holes to the deep cut scroll. Delicately carved
corners, well defined edge work and neatly laid out purfling.
Good Arching and elegant contour make the violin a keeper!
The inside workmanship is smooth with all four corners reinforced by lining strips of wood.

Surprisingly the violin is in very good condition for it’s age! Besides some minor scratches and an wear to the varnish there is no cracks that I can find anywhere! No sound post cracks in the front or the back and no bassbar cracks either! There is a minor repair to the front, lower right bout edge of no consequence and the G peg can slip a bit if not firmly tuned. All joints and seams are tightly sealed, in the back, top, sides and anywhere in between.
This old antique violin will make for an outstanding player violin, to enjoy for years to come!
