    Description

Outstanding piece of Philadelphia collectible ephemera.  Beautifully Hand written on Hand laid paper.  2 Pages of a Ledger with many Notable Pennsylvania Individuals.  Most notable is 3 members of the Peirsol family.
Jeremiah, Abraham and Mordecai.  These were known slave owners in the mid to late 1700's.  Other names include John Gregory, Robert McKay, John Merriam, Thomas Garrett (whose family has anti-slavery movement ties), Dr. William Shippen and many other names as well.  Many of which I could not make out or could not find any info.  Based on the people that were researched, I estimate this piece to be between 1750 and 1780.  There are references to early Pennsylvania businesses as well.  Corporation of Philadelphia, John Richards & CO., Stone Express, Maynard & Lamb and others.  There are also several references such as " Adventure to New York, Boston, Norfolk and others.  The top heading has Jeremiah Peirsol's name.  Not sure if this belonged to him or not.  This piece would look amazing opened up and displayed in frame, as you are able to see both pages side by side...connected. Again, Outstanding piece of Philly history that should be preserved and displayed...especially if you are from there.  Enjoy.  I think it is a great piece, but please don't mistake my personal opinion as fact.  Use the photos provided as a guide for determining acceptable condition.
