As you may well know, beautiful hand woven Harris Tweed lasts almost forever. So, we've been picking up vintage mens' tweed jackets and deconstructing them for our upcycling endeavours. The tea cosy is one of our classics ~ it will definitely keep your pot warm and toasty. As if Harris Tweed wasn't Scottish enough, we're fancying them up with appliqued Scottie dogs, cats, owls, and songbirds. And flowers like this one.
The fabric is hand woven by islanders in the Outer Hebrides. If you're interested in knowing more about this wonderful woven wool, do check out the Harris Tweed website online - fascinating! We just love the natural look of Harris Tweed ~ the way it mirrors the moss and scrub, earth and stone of its Scottish origin.
This listing is for a brown herringbone tweed, more like the first photo, than the second or third one.
The tea cosy measures 9 inches (22 cm.) in height and will fit a pot that is approximately 26 inches (69) cm. around, including the spout and handle. It has a little tab on the top and is made to slide over the pot.
