Ames AnciennesFine antique 18th century master violin made by Johann Andreas Kambl in Munich, 1779.
Fine antique violin made by Johann Andreas Kambl (1699/1781) in Munich in the year 1779. Kambl was an excellent maker who was appointed in 1738 "Court lute maker".
The top is made of two parts of a beautiful spruce, and shows regular grain lines widening towards the edges.
The ribs and head are of the same wood.
The back is made of two pieces and shows no flame. The varnish is of a deep brown color on a golden ground.
The violin is in a restored condition, with different repairs to the top (none to sound post or bass bar). The head has been beautifully grafted on a new neck. The head shows nice pegs bushings. The button of the neck shows also a nice ebony crown.
The violin has been revised in our workshop, including a new chinrest, a new tailpiece a new set of pegs and Thomastik Dominant strings. On the inside back can be found the original label of the master, "Joann andreas Kambl Chürfurftl Hof-Lauten und Geigenmacher in München 1772". The violin is guaranteed original.
