    Description

Russian Boy Doll, possibly "Tadjik," is an approximately 8 1/2" (including his fur hat) cloth doll with carved wooden black wooden boots (inner left boot is chipped) that was handmade in the Soviet Union circa 1922-1940's.  He is tagged "Made in Soviet Union " on the front of his violet  Cossack-style shirt, and was possibly sold through Kimport.  Though the fabric of his multi-striped coat is torn a bit along its backside, his clothing overall remains in unusually bright and clean condition, and his tan stockinette face retains its full painting.  Note those rosy cheeks!  His head and arms are covered with stockinet, while his torso is formed from firmly stuffed cloth (wood?).  His arms and thighs are constructed from wire, so he can somewhat pose, and his arms move up and down in sync.
His stockinet sustains minimal soil, more notably his cheeks and hands.
Russian Boy remains an early Russian treasure, particularly in his bright condition. He smells gently of cellar scent.
