1784 The Gentleman's Magazine (London) (March) - General George Washington's Farewell Speech to Congress (an historic issue!)
General Washington's Farewell Speech to Congress:
"Mr. President, The great events on which my resignation depended, having at length taken place, I have now the honour of offering my sincere congratulations to Congress, and of presenting myself before them, to surrender into their hands the trust committed to me, and to claim the indulgence of retiring from the service of my country....." and more
Under AMERICAN INTELLIGENCE "The Assembly of New Jersey on the 24th of December last resolved unanimously, that Congress ought to be invested with the power of regulating the trade of the United States."
Both plates called for are present (see pictures).  Measures about 5" x 8-1/4".
