11/16 Frederick Reynolds Sheffield Straight Razor THE ROCKINGHAM RAZOR

Vintage Frederick Reynolds Sheffield Straight Razor. The blade measures 11/16, with a beautiful frosted etch that reads "The Rockingham Razor." Has NOT been honed and stropped to shave ready. The blade has been thoroughly cleaned without unpinning and with no sanding or grinding being done on the blade. The rear scale is cracked but held in place solidly. I'll add some pics of the blade condition prior to my sympathetic cleaning and preservation.
Here are some of my thoughts around this that I posted elsewhere:
I pulled this from my collection to demonstrate what can be done WITHOUT UNPINNING, WITHOUT GREASELESS COMPOUND, WITHOUT SANDING OR GRINDING. Obviously there is more that can be done, like unpinning to clean the pivot and repair or replace the damaged scales but you can see the razor has been thoroughly cleaned and preserved as close to original as possible. There are blades that warrant a regrind and it can be done sympathetically to the history of the razor, however you see it done far too often to razors that could otherwise be preserved while making them perfectly suitable for daily use once again! For aesthetic value there are also instances that sanding or abrading is required, however I have NEVER been a fan of using GREASELESS COMPOUND, as you will see it washes out once crisp details, rolls and blends, removes or distorts those details. Sympathetic restoration/cleaning and preservation has a high value in regards to prolonging the life of these amazing blades! Just food for thought 👊😉👍 (caps for emphasis, I'm not yelling 😁)

All vintage blades from my collection may include blemishes such as minor scratches, freckles or pitting on blade surface, various amounts of wear, but nothing that will affect the blades ability to be honed and stropped to shave ready (unless I've noted specific defects above). All blades sold from my collection in non-restored, non-honed condition will require honing services to make shave ready, some blades requiring no more than a light honing session and others requiring minor edge correction, bevel setting and full honing session.
